With a system of louvers, an educational centre designed to accommodate more than 2,000 students has been protected. It is one of the most ambitious projects from the Ministry of Public Education to have been undertaken in the country in recent years.
An example of the importance of this space for the nation is that its inauguration was presided over by the President of the Republic Luis Guillermo Solís.
Today we want to show a very special installation made in the neighbourhood of La Carpio, on the outskirts of San José in Costa Rica, a country where the high exposure to the sun throughout the year makes protection from it a constructive need of utmost importance.
In the different photographs that accompany this text you can see the louver models installed in the school: the Z, the O-210 and the O-300.
The Z model, which in this installation is made of aluminium, can also be configured in PVC to achieve interesting features at a more affordable price.
The supports are die-cut equidistantly, allowing several openings to facilitate the anchoring of the slats at level, without the need for fastening screws.
The O-210 and O-300 models are designed to cover large surfaces with façades in areas where incoming light, leakage of water and wind action must all be controlled.
Although in this case the installation position is vertical, it also allows a horizontal installation as per the technical and aesthetic needs of the space which needs to be protected.
Despite being two models with motorisation capabilities, in this case it was decided to install them by determining a certain slat orientation by means of fixing systems, thus adapting to the specific needs of the façade in a geographical area with
an almost constant exposure to the sun during daylight hours.
