The
University of Mondragon, in the Basque Country, has chosen one of the most popular
Saxun sun protection solutions to remodel the Faculty of Humanities and Education Sciences in Eskoriatza. We are referring to our
Wind Screensystems.
This Saxun solution is part of the project designed and developed by local architect
Ibon Salaberria, winner of the Spanish Architecture and Urbanism Biennial BEAU 2021 competition.
An architectural design that creates open, adaptable and multi-purpose spaces,in order to generate places that are eager for learning and teaching; as well as collaboration and debate, that are typical of a university environment.
The award-winning architect has entrusted our Wind Screen to ensure that light and heat are properly managed through the large windows that surround the building.
Specifically, the project includes the installation of 51 Wind Screen with Zip system, distributed in an orderly fashion, to protect the large windows of the remodelled Faculty and which respond to the concept of an open, natural and moldable space, designed by Ibon Salaberria.
Wind Screen systems, thanks to their orderly management of incoming light, avoid glare and excessive solar load.
Their zip system provides great stability against strong gusts of wind, guarantees shade over the entire surface it protects and prevents light from entering through the sides.
We designed and installed the Wind Screen fabric so that it it is motorised, moving vertically and laterally by means of two self-supporting extruded aluminium guides. Once extended it is perfectly taut, ensuring elegant and complete shade.
When we want to let the light in through the windows, we only have to collect the fabric in the top box to protect it from dirt and the elements.
Saxun Wind Screens are not only the cutting-edge solution for solar control management, they are also an ideal system for guaranteeing privacy and creating internal environments of comfort and well-being.
We offer a completely domotic system that allows to reduce the energy consumption of large buildings, such as this Faculty. A solution that provides the versatility and adaptability that a university space like this needs for its daily work.
Finishes
A product that achieves excellence thanks to the wide range of finishes that we offer at Saxun. In this case, the straight-lined Dante model was chosen, which fits in much better with the architecture of the project. The fabric used has an opening factor of 14%, and the installation is completed with silver-coloured aluminium profiles.
Comprehensive refurbishment
This project has managed to completely remodel the original building, created in 1976, to adapt it to the present and future needs of both the building itself and the innovative model of education promoted by the Faculty of Humanities and Education Sciences of Eskoriatza.
Wind Screens have helped to provide a more open, useful, attractive and natural campus.
